Dr. Liana Talaue McManus

Global Environment Facility Marine Plastics Project, Project Coordinator (2018-2020)

As a marine scientist, I seek novel approaches to integrate ocean science and socioeconomics that effectively support decision and policy making, and help resolve conflicts among diverse stakeholder groups in the use and management of the coasts and oceans at multiple governance scales.

I bring 30 years of experience as professor (Philippines and USA) and global change scientist (with regional project exposure in Southeast Asia and the Caribbean), to my current role as project consultant for international marine projects which require interdisciplinary technical and policy inputs and consensus-building facilitation among multiple interest groups.

"I am keen to contribute to a working group with a goal of developing and assessing meaningful metrics/ indicators that document ecosystem (environmental, economic, social) change in the global coast as a lens for defining progress towards SDGs."
