Professor Chen is a geomorphologist whose research and teaching span geology, geomorphology, hydrology, and environmental change. His research focuses on the environmental change of megadelta, including climate change, sea-level rise, damming effect, and human adaptation. He has conducted many international collaborative projects on megadelta. He has published >180 papers in international journals, and edited 10 special issues and one book. He was the fellow of the University of Melbourne (2010-1014), and China national delegate for International Association of Geomorphology (2006-2018). Prof. Chen was the member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the IGBP’s LOICZ project (2009-2015), and is the member of Scientific Policy Committee of International Organization of Environmental Management of Enclosed Coastal Seas (2008-now). Prof. Chen is serving as an Editor for the international journal of Geomorphology. Professor Chen has been awarded several metals of scientific research of the Ministry of Education, China and Shanghai Municipality.
